1871 2nds Reach Cup Final in Commanding Win

Ealing Trailfinders 1871 2nds 48–10 Old Priorians 2nds (North-West Middlesex Floodlit Cup Semi-Final)

Already crowned Middlesex Merit Table Division 1 champions and promoted to the MMT Premier Division, the 2nds continued their excellent season by booking a place in the North-West Middlesex Floodlit Cup final with a convincing semi-final victory over Old Priorians 2nds.

Ealing, having already beaten their opponents twice in league action this season, started with purpose and quickly established control. Alex Tarrant opened the scoring with a penalty before immediately backing it up with a well-taken try, which he also converted, giving Ealing an early 10–0 advantage.

Old Priorians responded strongly, crossing twice before the quarter mark to level the contest at 10–10, but Ealing regained control through a powerful spell before half-time. Kavan Fitzpatrick powered over from close range, followed by prop Kimani Goppy, restoring a 20–10 lead at the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Ealing dominating territory but initially struggling to convert pressure into points. That changed as Fitzpatrick added his second try of the afternoon, with Tarrant once again adding the conversion to extend the lead.

Further scores from Dan O’Mahony and hooker Albert Stoute pushed Ealing clear, both converted by Tarrant, before wing Marquis Daly-Vidal produced the standout moment of the evening. Intercepting inside his own half, he sprinted clear to finish a decisive counter-attack and cap an excellent team performance, with Tarrant adding the extras for a personal haul that included a try, penalty and multiple conversions.

Despite a brief yellow card setback for Stoute, Ealing’s control of the game never wavered as they closed out a comprehensive 48–10 win.

The result sends Ealing Trailfinders 1871 2nds into the final of the revived competition, where they will meet either Ruislip or Harrow, with venue and date still to be confirmed.
