Ealing 1871 power past Ruislip in local derby thriller
Ealing 1871 produced a commanding performance to secure a comprehensive victory over local rivals Ruislip in warm and bright conditions, running out 54–31 winners in a high-scoring encounter.
The visitors opened with flair, opting to run from deep and crossing early through captain Toby Holt after a flowing team move. Liam Mulvihill, on debut, added the extras. Ruislip hit back to level, but Ealing quickly reasserted control with tries from Leo Codrington-Lambert and Akeem Eubank-Anderson, both off dominant lineout mauls, before Ilan Trowbridge added a fourth to seal the bonus point before half time.
Ruislip’s forwards threatened again after the break, narrowing the gap, but 1871 found another gear. Further tries from George Emmerson, Josh Steadman, Trowbridge (his second), and Archie Baxter, plus accurate kicking from Harrison Slater, ensured the visitors finished strongly.
A late Ruislip score earned the hosts a bonus point, but a final penalty from Slater took Ealing beyond the 50 mark to cap a fine away win.
