Mixed fortunes for 1871 sides as 2nds run riot
It was a weekend of contrasting results for the Ealing Trailfinders 1871 teams, with the 2nd XV producing a huge attacking performance while the 3rd XV fell to defeat.
The 2nd XV delivered an emphatic 84–5 victory over Rosslyn Park FC B’s in a dominant display on the 4G surface. Carlos Duarte struck early and went on to add a second try, while Albert Stoute and David Vater also crossed in a first half where 1871 quickly established control.
Rosslyn Park managed a single response midway through the half, but 1871 continued to apply relentless pressure. Sevanaia Laqeretabua scored twice before the break and completed his hat trick in the second half, while further tries from Harrison Slater, MacKenzie Hillier, Logan Flint and Ilan Trowbridge added to the tally. Slater was flawless from the tee, converting all 12 tries in a remarkable kicking display as 1871 maintained their grip on the match throughout.
The 3rd XV were unable to replicate that success, suffering a 46–10 defeat away to University College School RFC. Kayci Bernard scored the side’s only try, with Daniel Thompson adding the conversion and a penalty, but the hosts proved too strong over the course of the match.
Despite the setback for the 3rds, the commanding performance from the 2nds continued the club’s strong momentum as the season moves towards its final stages.
