1871 ending season in style with double victory for 2nds and 3rds

Ealing Trailfinders 1871 2nds 40–17 West London

Having already secured promotion to the Middlesex Merit Tables Premier Division, the 2nds rounded off their league campaign in style with a convincing win away at West London, a fixture that also doubled up as the quarter-final of the North West Middlesex Cup.

On a bright spring afternoon in Greenford, Ealing made a strong start and quickly imposed themselves. Kimani Goppy opened the scoring from close range, with captain Harrison Slater adding the conversion. Further first-half tries from Ilan Trowbridge and Keatan Gill built a 19–0 advantage as Ealing’s pace and structure began to tell, although West London responded before the break to stay in touch at 19–12.

After half-time, Gill added his second try to reassert control, converted by Alex Tarrant following Slater’s departure through injury. As the game wore on, Ealing’s organisation and fitness proved decisive, with further scores from David Vater and Tarrant, who also contributed well from the tee to finish with a try and three conversions.

A composed and professional display ensured a 40–17 victory and progression to the semi-final of the North West Middlesex Cup, where they will face local rivals Old Priorians.

Joint man of the match honours went to scrum half Chinh Patterson and Kavan Fitzpatrick, whose work rate and impact in the loose played a key role throughout.

Ealing Trailfinders 1871 3rds 44–27 Ickenham & Uxbridge

The 3rds produced another strong attacking performance to overcome Ickenham & Uxbridge in an entertaining and open contest.

Ealing’s try scorers were Dan Ford, Rob Lyall, Jevon Sturge with a brace, Omarion Smith, and Kayci Bernard who also crossed twice in a lively display. Rob Lyall was accurate from the tee, adding four conversions to help build a decisive scoreline.

Despite sustained pressure from the visitors and a competitive second-half effort, Ealing’s attacking efficiency proved the difference as they secured a 44–27 win to round off another positive weekend for the squad.
