Trailfinders Sides Impress with Ruthless Finishing and Forward Control

Ealing Trailfinders 1871 delivered two commanding performances at the weekend, with both senior sides showing confidence, accuracy and a clinical edge in contrasting conditions.

The first team produced a powerful display in relentless rain to brush aside Old Streetonians. Dominant lineout work and driving mauls set the platform, with Pat Nash crossing twice and Leo Codrington Lambert continuing his excellent form. Toby Holt stood out with a composed showing in the midfield, earning the Tenzing award after contributing a try and strong defensive work. The result keeps 1871 firmly in the Counties 1 Middlesex title race, only a point behind Finchley.

The second fixture saw a much changed 1871 side overcome late withdrawals to put together an expansive and energetic team performance against Rosslyn Park. Inspired by a remarkable first half hat trick from Kavan Fitzpatrick before injury forced him off, the squad adapted superbly. Excellent link play from the forwards set up two well constructed tries either side of half time, while sharp calls from the spine of the team repeatedly opened space out wide. Jonathan Oh and Kimani Goppy finished with confidence, and the kicking from Liam Mulvihill was flawless as he struck eight from eight.

Both matches showcased the depth, spirit and adaptability within the club, with players stepping up across positions and delivering under pressure. The signs are promising as the squad heads into a busy run of fixtures.
